Karen Collopy, E.A. is a solo firm that prepares tax returns for individuals, small sole proprietors, and small non profits.
Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Mary's College of CA. She was hired right out of college to work at the IRS as a Revenue Agent, auditing small businesses. After she started her family, Karen quit the IRS and became an Enrolled Agent in 2002 and started preparing tax returns out of her home office. As the kids grew, Karen grew her business and moved to an office space in 2015.
Karen loves working with her clients to ensure that their tax returns are prepared accurately and timely, of course, but she also enjoys getting to know them and making sure that they have all of the resources to get their financial house in order. Whether that be making sure they have an estate plan or financial planner, or proper insurance should they need it, Karen works with the client's team together to make sure that the client's entire financial picture is accounted for.
And, what is an Enrolled Agent, you ask? From the National Association of Enrolled Agent's website, in part: An EA is a tax professional who has achieved the highest credential the Internal Revenue Service offers. EAs are federally authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS and, like CPAs and attorneys, have unlimited representation rights. Unlike CPAs, which falls under state boards for licensing, the EA credential is valid in any state.
